Join us June 1 for Galaxy Explorers’ annual Galaxy Ball! This is our summer celebration of the individuals and companies who make space exploration happen. Each year FoGE honors contributors to the fields of space education and leadership and recognizes our outstanding Explorers and Mission Team Leaders.
The ball is an exciting night of cocktails, dinner and dancing! We also host an exciting Silent Auction and Raffle throughout the night. After dinner, the awards ceremony reminds us how important fostering the interest in excitement in space is, and honors leaders in the industry, and within the organization for their contributions.
The Space Leadership Award is given to the individual who, above all others, demonstrates superior leadership before the public to advance the exploration and developments of space. This year the recipient of the Space Leadership Award will be Mr. CHARLES F. BOLDEN, JR. (MAJOR GENERAL, USMC RET.) NASA Administrator. He is a most deserving award recipient leading NASA in these turbulent times.
Previous honorees of the Space Leadership Award include Secretary of the Air Force, Mr. Michael B. Donley, General James E. Cartwright, USMC (former Vice-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff), Mr. Gary E. Payton (Former Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force for Space Programs), Mr. Peter Wilhelm (Naval Research Laboratory), the Honorable Senator Barbara Mikulski, William Gerstenmaier (NASA Associate Administrator for Space Operations), Michael Griffin (Former NASA Administrator), Dr. Ronald M. Sega (USECAF – Space), and the Honorable Robert S. Walker (former Member of Congress).
Galaxy Explorers’ James E. Haywood Award for Excellence is presented to the volunteer who demonstrated superior performance in teamwork, organization, dedication and hard work.
