In the rockets and payloads camp, students learn about high power rocketry by building their own high power rocket. They will learn the about the concept of rocket flight and rocketry safety. For payloads, students will learn about space exploration and planetary exploration probes. They will build a planetary lander that will be launched from their rocket, deployed and operate autonomously. Students will learn about developing software for autonomous operations, radio communications and data processing. In the camp, students build and program the planetary lander, test it in a vacuum chamber, test radio communications and develop software for the ground station to process the data in real time. On the last day, the camp will go to Great Meadow in The Plains, VA to launch their rockets with the planetary landers and perform their mission. Students get to keep the rockets they built. Cost: $450.00 for the week.
